PNEUMATIC CONVEYING – TEKNOCONVEY

Pneumatic conveying is basically reasonably simple and convenient for the transporting of  powdered and granular materials in factory, site and  plant locations. Pneumatic conveying generally require less plant space, can be easily automated, and can be readily installed. The system requirements are a source of compressed gas, air, a feed device, a conveying pipeline and a receiver to unload the conveyed material and carrier gas. The system is totally enclosed, and if it is required, the system can operate entirely without moving parts coming into contact with the conveyed material. Low, high, or negative pressures can be used  to convey materials. For hygroscopic materials dry air can be used, and for potentially explosive materials an inert gas such as nitrogen can be used. A particular advantage is that materials can be fed into reception hopper maintained at a high pressure if asked.

What is the pneumatic conveying? Pneumatic conveying is a nucleus technology in the development of bulk material conveying systems for the process powder and granular production  industries. Pneumatic conveying technologies are divided in dense phase conveying and dillute phase conveying.

Introduction to pneumatic conveying

A appropriate choice and arrangement of equipment, materials can be conveyed from a hopper or silo in one location to another location some distance away. Significant flexibility in both plant layout and operation are possible, such that multiple point feding can be made into a common line, and a single line can be discharged into a number of receiving hoppers. Vacuum pneumatic conveying systems, materials can be picked up from open storage or stockpiles, and they are ideal for clearing dust accumulations and spillages.

Fixed pipelines can horizontally, as well as vertically up and down, and with bends in the pipeline any combination of orientations can be accommodated in a single pipeline run. Conveying materials vertically up or vertically down presents no more of a problem than conveying horizontally. Material flow rates can be controlled easily and monitored to continuously check input and output, and most systems can be arranged for completely automatic operation.

Pneumatic conveying are particularly all-purpose. Very wide range of powdreed and granular materials can be conveyed and they are totally enclosed by the system and pipeline. This means that potentially hazardous materials can be conveyed pretty safely. There is minimal risk of dust generation and so these systems generally meet the requirements of any local Legislation with little or no difficulty. Pneumatic conveying factories  take up very little floor space and the pipeline can be easily dispatched up plants, across roofs or even underground to avoid existing equipment or structures. Pneumatic conveying pipe bends in the conveying line provide this elasticity, but they will add to the overall resistance of the pneumatic conveying pipeline. Pipe bends can also add to problems of particle degradation if the pneumatic conveyed material is crispy, and suffer from erosive wear if the material is caustic.

Pneumatic Conveying industries and materials

Pneumatic conveying can operated a wide variety of materials in granular and powdered form, and a large number of different industries have processes which mix their transports and storage. Some of the industries in which bulk materials are conveyed  include chemical, agriculture, paint, mining, pharmaceuticals, manufacture, and metal processing. In agriculture very large tonnages of collected materials such as grain is  handled, as well as processed materials such as animal feed. Chemical sectors  symbolized a large unanimous industry with a wide variety of materials. A food products from flour, cacao to sugar and from  tea to coffee are conveyed by pneumatically in so many manufacturing processes.

Sugar  is a special big  industry in which many of these materials are handled. In the oi and gasl industry fine powders such as barytes, cement and bentonite are used for piercing purposes. In mining, lump coal and crushed stones, and  powdered minerals are conveyed. Pulverized coal and ash are both handled in very large quantities in thermal power plants by pneumatic conveying. In the plastic industries materials include soda ash, polyethylene, polypropylene and PVC in a wide variety of forms from fine powders to granular and pellets. Slica sand is used in glass and foundries manufacture, and cement and alumina are other materials that are conveyed pneumatically in very big  tonnages in a number of different industries.

Mode of pneumatic conveying:

  • Dilute phase pneumatic conveying:

Dilute phase pneumatic conveying is, hanging flow through a pipeline, regardless of the particle size, shape or density high velocity is required and so power requirements can also be high but there is virtually no limit to the range of materials that can be conveyed.

Dillute phase pneumatic  conveying advantages:

  • Less dusting
  • Less likely to cause temperature problems
  • A lower cost system
  • Much easier at pick-up

Dense Phase Conveying

TeknoConvey  is the biggest producer of Turkey in dense phase pneumatic conveying for process and material handling. TeknoConvey provide a innovative technology and  wide experience in all aspects of  powdered and granular material handling systems. Dense phase conveying two modes of flow are using. One is moving bed material flow, in which the material is conveyed s on the bottom of the pipeline, or as a percussive moving bed flow material, when viewed through a sight glass in a horizontal pipeline. The other mode is plug type flow, in which the material is conveyed as the full port plugs separated by air gaps. Dense phase conveying is often applied to as non hanging flow.

Dense Phase pneumatic conveying advantages:

  • Smaller receiver and separator
  • Best for long distance conveying
  • Better rate and performance
  • Much easier for the multiple destinations
